Guides

computer buying guideThe desktop computer buying guide for people purchasing both desktop PC's and Laptops.

Research Guide
The research guide will tell you how to make the most out of your money and is the most important guide on this site.

It should be bookmarked and referred to whenever you are going to make a computer purchase of any kind.

Component Guides
There are a number of guides, CPU Guide, Computer Memory (RAM) Guide, Hard Drive or Hard Disc Guide, Graphics Card Guide, and the Motherboard Guide.

These guides should be referred to as needed, however I would recommend reading all of them first.

Each guide explains the common ways each component of a computer is sold and will provide you with a solid understanding of terminology and typical specifications.

Page Update Counter
You will notice a page updated counter on every page of this website. This will let you know when I have last updated the site and the content is current.

Why did I make this site?

I have been asked a surprising number of times about buying a computer :
confused about buying a computer
"What should I look for when buying a computer ?"

"What is the best computer setup ?"

or regarding Laptops :

"Who makes better laptops, Dell or HP ?"

"What is the best laptop out there
"

"How can i choose a laptop from all of the choices"

These are all great questions, and considering the importance of the computer, it is remarkable how little people really know when they make such an expensive purchase that has such an impact on their life.

I assumed people like me would Google what they needed to know. It became clear that as soon as I started trying to answer questions, I began to see blank stares and it became apparent there was an information void that needed filling.
